In Q2, Meet AC and the Atlantic City Sports Commission hosted 12 events across the destination, with nine at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The economic impact showed a significant increase over 2021 and 2022, resulting in 42,174 room nights booked for meetings, conventions and events, generating $43,990,563 in revenue for the destination.
“With summer now in full swing, we’re seeing a big uptick of in-person events taking over Atlantic City throughout the third quarter,” said Meet AC’s President and CEO, Larry Sieg. “We’re excited to see some of our most popular events return, like the Meet AC Atlantic City Airshow, as well as some major events choosing our destination, like the 113th NAACP National Convention and 42nd National Sports Collectors Convention. In addition, many of our hotel partners have completed, or have almost completed, significant renovations and new amenities, making Atlantic City the place to be this summer.”
Q3 SPORTING EVENTS IN ATLANTIC CITY
The Atlantic City Jam Fest will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from July 6-8, 2022. It is the perfect opportunity for teens ages 14 – 17 to get their hoop on against their peers. This basketball camp is the perfect opportunity for sports loving teens. The event expects 10,000 attendees, 3,702 room nights, and $3,969,786 in economic impact.
Vertical Adventures 14th Annual Beach Pole Vaulting
The best beach vault in the world is back for the 14th annual pole vault party on the Atlantic City Beach from July 9-10, 2022. The event expects 750 attendees, 100 room nights, and $160,889 in economic impact.
Jimmy Johnson’s Atlantic City “Quest for the Ring” Championship Fishing Week
JJFishWeekFL, which annually takes place in March in South Florida, will be making its way up the east coast to Atlantic City, NJ for the upcoming Northeast summer tournament season to host the 2nd Annual JJFishWeekAC, in partnership with the Atlantic City Sports Commission from July 10-16, 2022 hosted at the Frank S. Farley State Marina at Golden Nugget Casino, Hotel & Marina. The tournament will include a $1 Million + Guaranteed Purse and a week full of the ultimate hospitality with approximately 90-100 teams. The event expects 1,500 attendees, 3,500 room nights, and $2,755,959 in economic impact.
AVP Junior Nationals Beach Week
The AVP Junior Nationals Beach Week will take place on the Atlantic City Beach from July 20-22, 2022. Here, kids of all ages will compete for the ultimate beach volleyball title in front of a variety of college scouts. The event expects 3,000 attendees, 1,624 room nights, and $1,644,005 in economic impact.
The 42nd National Sports Collectors Convention
The 42nd National Sports Collectors Convention will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from July 27-31, 2022. The National Sports Collectors Convention is an annual gathering of collectors, dealers and any other groups interested in collecting trading cards, autographs and other related memorabilia. This event boasts the strongest tradition, best autograph guests, largest roster of dealers of vintage and new collectibles, and the biggest selection of cards and memorabilia all under one roof. The event expects 30,000 attendees, 7,463 room nights, and $11,222,869 in economic impact.
The 12th Annual Atlantic City Triathlon returns to Atlantic City on August 7, 2022. As the most beginner-friendly triathlon course in New Jersey, participants will compete in a .25-mile swim, 11-mile bike and 5k run on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
3rd Annual Jim Whelan Open Water Festival
The Around Island Swim will take place August 8-9, 2022 with its signature event, the 56th Around the Island Swim. Participants will swim a 22.75 mile marathon open water course in and around Absecon Island, NJ, which is made up of the cities of Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate, and Longport.
The Amerikick Internationals will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from August 18-20, 2022. This tournament will feature black belt martial arts competitors competing in a variety of sparring matches for the ultimate title. The event expects 3,200 attendees, 586 room nights, and $894,676 in economic impact.
Foam Glow Atlantic City will take over Bader Field on August 27, 2022. After being doused from head to toe with vibrant UV foam throughout the race, participants will be plastered in color and ready for the afterparty. The event expects 10,000 attendees, 650 room nights, and $1,823,276 in economic impact.
Ironman 70.3 triathlon will return to Atlantic City on September 10, 2022. The triathlon takes place on a flat and scenic course in Atlantic City in one of the East Coast’s iconic seaside towns.
East End Volleyball Tournament
A famous spot for the volleyball greats, the East End Volleyball Tournament will take place at the Atlantic City Beach from September 16-17th, 2022 and is free of entry for its guests. The event expects 2,000 attendees, 122 rooms a night, and $382,735 in economic impact.
The Atlantic City Pickleball Open will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from September 19-24, 2022. As the world’s largest indoor pickleball tournament, this event will provide the ultimate competition for players and spectators alike. The event expects 10,000 attendees, 5,413 room nights, and $3,906,927 in economic Impact.
Q3 CONVENTIONS, CONFERENCES & EVENTS IN ATLANTIC CITY
113th NAACP National Convention
The 113th NAACP National Convention 2022 will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center July 14-20, 2022. The 113th NAACP National Convention which will focus on the theme of #ThisIsPower, and will bring organizational leaders together to workshop solutions to our community’s most pressing issues – voting and reproductive rights, student debt, and police reform – and determine the NAACP’s policy agenda priorities for 2022-23. The event expects 11,000 attendees, 7,701 room nights, and expects $9,314,031 in economic impact.
The Atlantic City Truck Meet will take place at Bader Field from July 30-31, 2022. The North East’s largest truck show is free for spectators and features different designs from classic to modern, as well as a bikini contest. The event expects 14,000 attendees, 2,300 room nights, and $4.3 million in economic impact.
The BMM 2022 Convention will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from August 11-14, 2022. The BMM 2022 Convention works to create effective collaboration and increased communication between BMM and all Marathi organizations in North America through continuous improvement of operational processes. Marathi Vishwa aims to make this convention both historical and memorable. The event expects 5,000 attendees, 7,927 room nights, and $4,232,552 in economic impact.
The first-ever Tidal Wave Music Festival will take over Atlantic City’s Beach from August 12-14, 2022 for a weekend filled with performances by top country music stars. The music festival will feature amazing sets and over 30 artists including Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen, Dierks Bentley, and many more.
The Meet AC Atlantic City Airshow “A Salute to Those Who Serve”, will return to the city for a free show by the shore on August 24, 2022. The Meet AC Atlantic City Airshow is the world’s premier midweek beachfront airshow featuring performers such as the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Parachute Team – aka the Golden Knights, drawing more than 500,000 spectators annually. The Thunderbirds will showcase the elite skills of their pilots, while the Golden Knights will complete a demonstration performed to exacting standards of practice.
3rd Annual New Jersey Cannabis Convention (NECANN 2022)
The 3rd Annual New Jersey Cannabis Convention will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from September 9-10, 2022. This event recruits the largest, most comprehensive group of cannabis industry professionals of any event on the east coast, bringing new relationships and customers to them. This event consists of 2,000 attendees and $552,336 in economic impact.
The Arett Sales Open House will be hosting a live show at the Atlantic City Convention Center from September 11-13, 2022. With over 300 vendors, the newest products, and the best deals the gardening industry has to offer, this event is a must. The event expects 2,200 attendees, 1,799 room nights, and $2,182,036 in economic impact.
Northeast Regional Carwash Convention
The Northeast Regional Carwash Convention will take place at the Atlantic Convention Center from September 19-21, 2022. The show will provide a forum for education, equipment exhibits and an exchange of ideas and camaraderie among operators and exhibitors. The event expects 1,620 attendees, 969 room nights, and $1,216,203 in economic impact.
WHAT’S NEW IN ATLANTIC CITY
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Opens New Steakhouse, B Prime
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa opened B Prime on June 23, 2022. B Prime offers a contemporary take on the classic steakhouse, and will allow guests a first-class culinary experience with a lively dinner party atmosphere. The restaurant creates unique twists on traditional dishes and features a curated collection of the world’s best steak cuts sourced from Japan, New Jersey, Idaho, and Texas, in addition to a selection of non-steak dishes.
Ocean Casino $85 Million Update
In July, Atlantic City’s Ocean Casino and Resort will unveil a $85 million update that includes 460 new rooms and suites across 10 newly-opened floors. In addition, the renovations will include The Gallery Bar Book & Games, a 100-foot elevated bar and lounge with video poker, blackjack and roulette tables, and 140 feet of LED walls; and multiple new food and beverage outlets.
Carousel Bar Now Open at Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino
Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino has completed $100 million dollars of planned renovations, including new dining and bar areas. The new Carousel Bar at Bally’s is now officially open, and acts as an immersive experience that features a 360-degree view of the lobby. Acting as a carousel, guests can enjoy modern cocktails with Atlantic City flavors such as Saltwater Taffy, Cotton Candy, funnel cake, and more.
Caesars Atlantic City Announces Property Enhancements
Caesars Atlantic City has announced a $400 million investment into Atlantic City, which includes upgrades to its lobby, casino floor, pools, and new restaurants. Within the resort, Nobu Hotel Atlantic City is projected to open this summer, including a Nobu Restaurant. In addition, Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen opens this summer and the menu will feature a variety of Ramsay’s classics, such as Beef Wellington.
