The Greater Atlantic City Chamber is a proud member of the New Jersey Chamber Alliance, and we are bringing the 2024-2025 proposed state budget to your attention. This plan is harmful to our hard-working business community.

First, the Corporate Transit Fee would hammer our largest employers – the same ones who generously support local nonprofits. Then there’s the “Buck a Truck” tax that targets our growing logistics industry. More expensive shipping costs get passed onto consumers.

Meanwhile, key agencies that are meant to support and grow small businesses are getting funding cuts. The NJEDA, Business Action Center, and Small Business Development Centers would all have less resources to help entrepreneurs thrive.

New Jersey needs to prioritize policies that strengthen our economy through an attractive business climate. This budget does the opposite – making our state more expensive and less competitive. It undermines the progress we’ve made in recent years.

Read our letter and see why our coalition of over 30 chambers across NJ is urging the Legislature to reject these harmful measures. We’re calling for investing that $6 billion surplus into pro-business initiatives instead of new taxes. It’s time to feed the engine that drives our state forward – not starve it.

We encourage you to make your voice heard. Reach out to your representatives and we urge you to oppose these proposed measures in the budget and support measures that will strengthen the business community, ultimately strengthening New Jersey.
