HealthMed Urgent Care in Atlantic City is a true healthcare gem in the middle of the city. Under the direction of Medical Director Marcel Stern, M.D., Health Med has the ability to offer a continuum of care to patients. Urgent Care is only one portion of the services available at HealthMed.
Dr. Stern stated that when Health Med opened its doors, it handled all the casino injuries and served as the sole provider for Local 54. Health Med also performs new employee testing and drug screening, along with a full spectrum of other services such as DOT physical exams, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and COVID testing, and it also has a primary care practice. “What sets us apart from other primary care practices is if you are not feeling well, you or a family member has a cut or fall, you can call or walk in, and you will be seen the same day.” There is minimal wait, and you will never be told to come back another day.
HealthMed is staffed by a physician seven days a week. “When a patient walks through our doors, they
will be seen by a physician,” states Dr. Stern. We are capable of taking care of all patients over the age of
two here.” We are also here to do our patients’ annual well visits.
Diagnostics are done in-house. HealthMed is fully equipped with a full screening lab and is able to draw blood, saving patients extra steps and time by completing the work in-house. They also have x-rays on site and are able to test for pulmonary function and hearing tests. HealthMed is also equipped with a surgical suite where they can do burn care and manage acute trauma, orthopedic fractures, or dislocations. Dr. Stern explained that because they offer X-rays on site, they are able to read the X-rays and provide prompt care for any type of initial injury, stabilize the patient, splint, and refer the patient to a local orthopedic practice without the need for a visit to the Emergency room.
Dr. Stern is certified to do exams for those seeking or holding CDL licenses and Department of Transportation physicals. He is a certified U.S. Civil Surgeon and is able to complete the physicals for those individuals seeking their green card or permanent resident care. He is also a licensed medical review officer who is certified to evaluate drug screens and urinalysis for employers.
Patient-friendly and convenient, HealthMed is servicing patients well beyond the borders of Atlantic City. With convenient and safe parking at their front door, HealthMed welcomes patients from across Atlantic County, Brigantine, and Egg Harbor Township. HealthMed is located at 24 S. South Carolina Avenue in Atlantic City. Their hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturdays from 9:00-3:00 PM and Sundays 9:00 – 2:00 PM.
