As its next social enterprise, Ideal Institute of Technology, a career college in Atlantic County, is bringing a new food truck to town in collaboration with Atlantic City Youth Services Division. WE ARE AC FOOD TRUCK is launched Friday, Oct. 28 at The Walk in Atlantic City, with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m., and is the first of its kind, managed and operated by Atlantic City and County out-of-school youth enrolled at Ideal’s First Step to Career program. Youth involved in the program receive paid entrepreneurship training while learning food truck operations, including opening, closing, cooking, purchasing, marketing, delivery, and bookkeeping. Those that successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to own their own food truck funded by an angel investor group.

“At Ideal, we believe in innovating for the future and providing our students with unique entrepreneurship opportunities,” says Ren Parikh, Founder of Ideal Institute of Technology. “As pioneers in the field of education, we are the first and only school to offer this type of path to entrepreneurship in the food truck industry. We’re excited for our students to develop into their full potential and grateful for the support from the Atlantic City government and Youth Services Division for their partnership.”

Sponsored by El Gran Chalan Peruvian Restaurant and owner Alberto Robalino-Pasmino, and funded through a sub-grant from OCEAN Inc. and CEO Channell Wilkins, WE ARE AC FOOD TRUCK features a variety of breakfast and lunch options from a variety of egg sandwiches to tacos and Brazilian wraps, and will be open daily, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Read more from Shore Local News.
