Governor Murphy signed legislation today making outdoor dining permissions permanent across New Jersey, a move that will significantly benefit the state’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

The law (S3608/A4866) allows restaurants, bars, and alcohol retailers to maintain outdoor fixtures like tents and seating areas while extending ABC permits that were initially granted during COVID-19.

“This permanent change will empower establishments across New Jersey to invest confidently in their outdoor spaces,” said Michael Chait, President of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber. “The law ensures our hospitality industry can continue offering the expanded dining options that have proven so popular with both residents and visitors.”

We thank Governor Murphy, Senators Sarlo and Polistina, and Assembly Members Freiman, Drulis, and Stamato for their leadership in supporting New Jersey’s hospitality and tourism economy.
