Serving as the Voice of Business

The Chamber’s Chair’s Council was established in 2009. At that time the Chamber’s Board of Director’s determined that in order to better serve the needs of the business community in the region; a more intensive advocacy effort would be required. The Chamber felt that the issues we were confronting were simply too important for us as a business community not to be more actively engaged.

Immediately upon announcing this initiative, approximately 40 of the region’s leading companies stepped forward to fund this advocacy effort. With that support, the Chamber has been able to harness additional resources to advance our collective business interests at all levels of government, including local, county and state.

Most recently, the Business Advocacy Committee, led by Committee Chair Paul Gallagher with strong support from Chamber Chairman Sam Young, identified three major areas of focus: Social Services, Business  Competitiveness/Attraction, and Legislative Issues. We are working closely with many different organizations and entities to address these priorities in a meaningful way, including CRDA, The Atlantic City Alliance, ACCVA, the city of Atlantic City, Atlantic County, social service agencies and others.

We are also working closely with our elected officials on several legislative initiatives designed to better position Atlantic City to attract the type of investment and development that will benefit the entire region.

As a business community, we are critical stakeholders in the future of this region. We must continue to evolve as a complete tourist destination, not only a gaming destination. We must ensure that the Tourism District’s Clean and Safe initiatives are succeeding. We must remove obstacles to economic growth by working collaboratively with other key
stakeholders, and we must ensure support from elected and appointed officials.

We encourage you to join us in this effort by becoming a member of the Chair’s Council. We sincerely believe there is no more important investment you can make in the future of your own business…and our collective future as a business community.
