The Greater Atlantic City Chamber today issued the following statement thanking Governor Phil Murphy and the entire Legislative Body for approving of A3676/S2307, which will provide for increased investment and business expansion for aviation-related industries centered on the William J. Hughes Federal Aviation Administration Technical Center and the Atlantic City International Airport. Read more from the Press of Atlantic City here.
“The approval of this important legislation is a tremendous accomplishment for the Atlantic County community.” said Chamber President Joseph Kelly. “The opportunity to attract technology-based companies, establish a cargo hub, and aircraft maintenance center at the Atlantic City International Airport is a huge step in the right direction.”
The concept of an aviation zone providing tax incentive was originally proposed through the advocacy efforts of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber and initiated by the late Senator Jim Whelan. The legislation now being approved was sponsored by Senate President Steve Sweeney, Senators Chris Brown and Jeff Van Drew and was sponsored in the Assembly by Assemblymen Vince Mazzeo and John Armato. “This is an excellent example of what can be accomplished to better our region’s economy when there is collaboration between our public legislative officials and the private business sector,” said David Goddard, Co-chair of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber Economic Development Committee.
“It is, and always has been, a primary goal of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber to help diversify the region’s economy. We will now see what can happen when targeted incentives are provided in the right environment,” said Kelly.
The Greater Atlantic City Chamber is committed to help create a favorable business climate and promote economic growth across the region, including the William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport and other industries that help diversify the economy in Atlantic County.
