The Chamber was honored to recognize Tim Glenn and Leo Schoffer on Thursday, April 18, 2013 during the John G. FitzPatrick and Redenia Gilliam-Mosee Community and Business Leadership Awards Dinner.

“The Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of its annual John G. FitzPatrick and Redenia Gilliam-Mosee Community and Business Leadership Awards.
Tim Glenn, president of Glenn Insurance, and Leo Schoffer, managing partner of Schoffer Enterprises, will receive their honors at a dinner award ceremony Thursday, April 18, at Linwood Country Club hosted by the chamber and presented by Sun National Bank and Cooper Levenson Attorneys at Law.
The chamber has annually recognized the most dynamic and influential individuals in our community since the mid-1960s. A selection committee composed of past recipients selects the honorees.
“Mr. Glenn and Mr. Schoffer are leaders in both business and in service to our community,” said Sam Young, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors. “They are both richly deserving of this honor.”
Tim Glenn is a lifelong resident of Linwood who works to create a better community for those around him.
As a graduate of the Linwood public school system and the father of three children attending Linwood schools, Glenn’s commitment to education and his support of programs and organizations like the Linwood Education Foundation demonstrates the spirit of the John G. FitzPatrick Community Leader of the Year award.
A graduate of the Hill School and Colgate University, Glenn received his bachelor of arts in political science in 1986. He joined the family business in 1987 as an account executive and became president of Glenn Insurance in 2001.
He is an active member of the AtlantiCare Foundation board of directors and the Greater Atlantic City Chamber. He is on the executive committee of the Southern New Jersey Spring Heart Walk of the American Heart Association. He also volunteers for the Wetlands Institute.
Glenn was named Linwood Citizen of the Year in 2009, received the Alan Angelo Community Key Award in 2012 and was recently honored by the Linwood Education Foundation.
Leo B. Schoffer is proud of his Atlantic County roots.
He spent his early childhood on his parents’ poultry and egg farms in Hamilton and Egg Harbor townships. After his parents Sam and Sara sold their farm in the 1960s, they began a real estate business.
Schoffer is an honors graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in economics and distinguished himself as a “law fellow” at Hofstra University Law School.
After graduation, Schoffer’s father convinced him that there were special opportunities in real estate development in and around Atlantic City because of the newly instituted casino gaming legislation. That personal gamble paid off and helped him build a career together with his partner and father, Sam.
Schoffer’s first employment was as in-house counsel for the Dunes Casino Hotel project. He left the position to create Schoffer Enterprises with his father.
As a real estate developer, Schoffer has successfully developed and leased commercial and industrial space to many local regional and national businesses. One of his projects was the redevelopment of the Kensington Furniture property in Northfield into a multitenant lifestyle center.
During the past year Schoffer has worked on a vision to attract the pharmaceutical industry to Atlantic County by developing a medical marijuana distribution center creating in Egg Harbor Township. He hopes the initiative will be a model for this new industry and help attract pharmaceutical companies to the area.
Schoffer of Margate enjoys a similar connection with other institutions in his life. He serves on the board of overseers at Rutgers University where he and his wife, Patti, created a family scholarship for athletes from Atlantic County.
Schoffer’s involvement with Atlantic City High School continues as president of the ACHS Hall of Fame Association, into which he was also inducted in 2007 as an outstanding contributor.
Schoffer refers to community activity as his hobby. Over the years he has also served as president of Congregation Beth Judah, chairman of the Margate City’s Citizens Long Term Planning Committee, chairman of the Egg Harbor Township Economic Development Commission and twice chairman of the Jewish Federation Campaign.
In 2009 Schoffer expressed his love for the Atlantic City Community and its Jewish history by creating a book titled, “A Dream. A Community: A Nostalgic Look at Jewish Businesses in and Around Atlantic City.”
The publication was selected by USABookNew.com as a winner in the general history category of the 2009 National Best Book Awards.”
